The Offaly Independent, distributed free every Friday, is the most widely read paper in the County and can deliver the largest verified audience and market penetration of any media. First published in 1846, the Offaly Independent used to be a paid for title but has retained its in-depth news, sport, and entertainment coverage as a free newspaper and consistently punches above its weight amongst the other print titles in the market place.
The Offaly Independent use a very reputable nationwide distribution company for their door to door deliveries and business drops. The delivery covers every town and village in the county with over 11,000 copies per week. These towns include, Cloghan, Moate, Banagher, Ferbane, Clara and Tullamore.
More than half of the weekly distribution (4,300 copies) goes directly in the front doors of homes in the main residential centers of Tullamore.
